SEAI Grant Guide 2026
Everything you need to claim up to €14,300 in home energy grants
Important: Use SEAI-Registered Installers Only
To qualify for any SEAI grant, you MUST use an SEAI-registered contractor. Work must be completed and paid for before applying. Applications are processed within 8-14 weeks.
Solar PV Grant
Grant for solar panel installation (€700/kWp up to 2kWp, €200/kWp for 2-4kWp, max €1,800)
Eligibility Requirements
- •Property built and occupied before 2021
- •BER cert required after installation
- •SEAI registered installer
- •Owner-occupier or landlord
- •0% VAT on supply and installation
Processing Time
8-12 weeks after application submission
How to Apply
- 1.Get quote from SEAI-registered installer
- 2.Complete work and pay in full
- 3.Apply online at seai.ie within 6 months
- 4.Receive grant payment directly to your account
Required Documents
- • BER certificate (issued before work)
- • Proof of payment (bank statement or receipt)
- • Installer declaration of works
- • Property ownership proof (if applicable)
Heat Pump Grant
Heat pump system grant — increased to a max of €12,500 from 3 Feb 2026 (€6,500 base + €2,000 central-heating upgrade + €4,000 renewable heat bonus)
Eligibility Requirements
- •Replacing fossil fuel heating
- •BER C3 or better after installation
- •Property built and occupied before 2021
- •SEAI registered installer
Processing Time
10-14 weeks after application submission

Maximizing Your Grants
Stack your grants: You can claim multiple grants for different upgrades. Solar PV + Heat Pump = up to €14,300 total in grants (battery storage no longer has a standalone SEAI grant as of Jan 2024).
Timing matters: Complete all upgrades within the same year for easier processing. Each application is separate but can reference previous work.
BER requirement: Your property must have a BER cert issued BEFORE starting work. Order this early - it takes 2-3 weeks to arrange.
Payment proof: Keep all invoices, receipts, and bank statements. SEAI may request additional documentation during processing.
